Now that Thanksgiving is over (here in the states that is), it’s time to get really focused on holiday knitting! Hanukkah is coming up first, December 8th through the 16th this year, and Christmas is close on its heels.
On my list this year are a number of hand knits:
- Cashmere ribbed hats for my father-in-law and brother-in-law. I’ve knit these for them the past couple years because they work outside and are hard on their hats. They’re really happy to receive them, and an appreciative recipient always makes this knitter happy.
- Worsted weight socks for my husband. I knit him a pair years ago and he really liked how warm and cozy they were as house socks. I figured it’s time for a new pair.
- Small shawls for my mom, sister, stepmom, and mother-in-law. I’ve been knitting these throughout the year, building up my gift stash. The most recently finished was Marin, knit in Madelinetosh Pashmina from Little Knits!
- Monster bookends from Rebecca Danger’s new book for my little guy’s room. I’ll actually be filling these guys with sand and using them as doorstops, since his door won’t stay open without one!
So, the only immediate family members I don’t have gift ideas for yet are my niece (11), nephew (13), brother in law (surfer dude), and dad (hardest person in the world to shop for). Any ideas for me? Anything you’re knitting or crocheting for holiday gifts? Any yarn shopping to do in preparation? I’d love to hear about it!
